Stand together with us and ensure that your rates & taxes are spent correctly on the growth of Graaff-Reinet.

  • What we do:

The Graaff-Reinet Ratepayers Association informs itself about local government, business developments, environmental and social dangers and takes steps in the interest of our town. Problems are brought to the notice of municipal or government officials, businesses  or developers. It endeavors to ensure that funds allocated by the state are spent judiciously by the local authority. This means protecting the community from illegal or corrupt practices that could impact on the town’s economic, environmental or social growth. It works together with the municipality and holds it accountable for the maintenance and improvement of the entire Graaff-Reinet community.

  • How it works:

At the Annual General Meeting the Association’s members  elect a committee, which disseminates matters of local concern by means of meetings, circulars, emails, Facebook posts, articles and letters published in the local media. Members are encouraged to bring problems to the attention of the committee which then contacts the appropriate person to provide a solution.

  • What it costs:

Residents are encouraged to become members of the Association at an annual fee of R80.
